Workforce Planning Manager

Location: Woking, GB

                 

Purpose of the Role:

  • Develop and successfully implement a strategy around workforce planning for all departments with the COO teams
  • Ensure the correct resource processes are in place and or adhered to
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to plan and monitor utilisation of resource
  • To role model and demonstrate the Company values

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Evaluation of current and future programmes and projects
  • Development and implementation of a strategy to effectively manage internal and external resource between programmes and projects
  • Develop, share and implement resource utilisation methods that assist the business to plan for additional or different resource levels to achieve against business plan
  • Provide recommendations and solutions as resource issues arise
  • Is accountable for working closely with the HR/Recruitment team to outline future shortfalls in resources and planning activity to ensure no adverse impacts are experienced
  • Analysis of existing internal resource (permanent, fixed term, supplier and agency contractor) to identify over or under resource utilisation
  • Working closely with managers to understand requirements and concerns linked to specific projects and programmes
  • Contribute to discussions around skills gap analysis, providing comprehensive reports to HR and Finance for resource planning for short, medium and long terms demands
  • Identifying trends and providing workable solutions to the business on resource allocation, utilisation and future headcount planning
  • Working with finance to embed a rate card approach that is used to forecast and manage budgets
  • Designing and implementing templates and tools to monitor and log resource planning with the view to implement systems as the role grows
  • Create, monitor and track mechanisms to assess utilisation and allocation of resource (timesheets etc)
  • Able to partner with multiple stakeholders at all levels of seniority within the business

Key competencies and experience

  • A clear understanding of the commercial drivers of the business and how the role can drive the success of the organisation through workforce planning
  • Extensive experience of stakeholder engagement and management at all levels
  • Proven experience of resource planning ideally in a manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Experience of forecasting and budget planning 
  • A collaborative approach with the ability to drive change
  • Takes ownership and provides solutions
  • Ability to manage and overcome conflict 
  • An experienced people manager and leader
  • Has previously worked in organisations that have lacked infrastructure and has been able to operate in the ‘grey’ to create and provide direction
  • Has managed budgets and has been involved in commercial discussions and negotiations
  • A good knowledge of workforce planning approaches with evidence of successful application and ROI
  • Experience of partnering senior leaders and the HR and Finance teams to produce long term strategies around workforce planning
  • Technical knowledge of employment legislation (international legislation is desirable).
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and high attention to detail
  • Can matrix manage different people across the business
