Technical Support Engineer

Role Dimensions:

The role of the Technical Support Engineer is to support the day to day activities of a multi functional and technically gifted team.  Liaising with the Business Unit Manager, Group Leaders and team leaders to ensure minimum disruption to vehicle launch and build requirements. The role is also responsible for the capture of build issues using the A3 reporting system to focus on route cause and problem resolution. Generate a feedback loop to Engineers to enable Lessons Learned problems are captured at source before commencement of future projects. This role also requires a track back loop from the EOL and MPA scoring system to focus on the top 5 issues for root cause analysis and issue resolution tracking graphically trends and successes. You will be involved with assisting in delivering best operational practices in alignment with brand expectation contributing to program gateways and build targets. Achieving all project gateway milestones is key to the successful delivery of all new products on the Ultimate Series line so you will support in the delivery of all program objectives to ensure this happens.

The Job:

You will be responsible for:

  • Liaison with Launch Team Engineers / Manufacturing Engineers to ensure production readiness of all documentation to support the 4M philosophy

  • Coordinating BDR activity relative to each station

  • Track and update skills and competency matrices in line with training activity

  • Build issue recording and resolution drawing on the extensive team of engineers to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions

  • Instrumental in driving quality and shakedown issues to minimisation.

  • Assist with future projects through Verification Build and Pre Production phases to gain a full understanding of the product before vehicle launches into production

  • Coordinating Launch Build Efforts to include EOL Quality, Launch CAT Teams, Quality Engineering Group, Engineering Function Groups, and Launch Build Team

  • Working with Manufacturing Engineer’s to ensure process Compliance, validity, and capability.

  • Assist with KPI Development, quality standards and 4M stage compliance

  • Provide Countermeasures to ensure targets and KPI’s are met

  • RCA activity Support, and Problem Resolution Support

  • Reporting and Verification of Build Hours Per Car

  • Reporting and Verification of downtime incurred

  • Generation of timing plans to support full program delivery activities for the companies Track 22 plan and beyond,

A mechanical Diploma or degree or equivalent experience in a similar role.
