Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Systems Manager to join our Electric Drive Technology team.

Purpose of the role:

To lead cross line projects for the Electric Drive Technology department. Delivering and ensuring they fulfil all the programme.

The scope of the role covers all projects from an advanced development stage before entering development for series production. Work with and support Electric Drive Technology Engineering Managers and Principal Engineers for roadmap based activity and maturing next generation technology.

Work within a matrix organization with a direct report line to the Head of Electric Drive Technology whilst delivering towards project based goals set by Platform team leadership on multiple parallel projects.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Seconded to the Cross Car-Line Engineering Director, working closely with Vehicle line and Electric Drive leadership and other relevant stakeholders define and implement goals for all projects under your responsibility
  • Ensure goals are cascaded, communicated, reported and ultimately achieved at the relevant platform gateway
  • Represent Electric Drive at the Finance, Project and Cross Car-Line meetings and report back to the department. Represent Electric Drive Technology (EDT) together with EDT Managers and Principal Engineers at Platform Attribute meetings.
  • Prepare and Present MDP (McLaren Development Program) slides for key platform gateways and boardwalks.
  • Accountable for managing the full budget for the Platform across the Electric Drive department, including internal and external head count, tooling investment, D&D and BOM cost. This will include target setting.
  • Innovation – support, facilitate and deliver innovation into the respective Electric Drive Platform with regards to material, design, technology as well as development methodologies.
  • Ensure Electric Drive Software trackers are on target with issues resolved on time.
  • Relevant ISO26262 compliance is adhered to for key electric drive components.
  • Ensure key testing metrics are satisfied for compliance before hand-over to Core Engineering delivery.
  • Define or Influence the selection of Strategic outsourced resource partners
  • Develop the relationship, framework and ultimately the capability of your external partners including a clear performance management process.
  • Sign off design, technical specification and concept FMEAs to ensure all of the above targets are met.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • An experienced automotive leader of direct and indirect teams
  • Experienced in an OEM or tier one with a high level of electric drive systems technical knowledge
  • Proven ability in an R&D project management
  • Previous experience in automotive product development or project leadership function
  • CATIA V5, PC literate and at ease with MS Office products
  • Good understanding of ISO26262 standards
  • Should have good understanding of Electric Drive control systems which include Battery Management Systems, Motor Control Units, DC/DC converter and Charger control systems, and their delivery to programs.
  • Knowledge of Electric Drive Simulation and Analysis tools and processes
  • Sound commercial and financial awareness
