The Team

The Communications Systems Team create high-performance wireless solutions for a diverse range of industries. We are responsible for delivering embedded software and networking solutions that customers use for a variety of communication challenges such as connecting vehicles, motorsport telemetry systems by utilising F1 technology where possible - or to build a solution from the ground up. Collaborating with teams including Hardware, Electronic Systems, Business Development and Quality.

The Role

In this role, you will be working with the Communications Systems Team architecting and managing the roll out of data centre infrastructure for our connected fleet platform, working primarily with, but not limited to the rail industry:

  • Systems engineer, with responsibility for detailed customer requirements capture, system design, test & deploy, 
  • Work with software developers to support the development of your design and to enhance the platform.
  • Architect bespoke physical and cloud based data centre infrastructure solutions according to the project requirements.

The role will primarily be based at one of our Woking offices, but will require some travel for customer meetings, site visits etc.


Skills and Expertise 


  • Strong networking skills including TCP/IP, policy based routing, layer 2 and 3 tunnelling, SSL, DNS and NAT.
  • Scripting skills in Bash, Python, Perl or similar.
  • Experience of working with Linux servers (preferably Debian derived), including set-up and administration of common services, routing and IPTables.
  • Interacting with customers, support teams, service providers and developers, you will need excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in writing customer and system requirements specifications and system design specifications



  • Experience of working in a virtualized environment.
  • Experience with wireless network deployment, wireless LAN controllers and an appreciation of networking in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with low power RF and sensor technology
  • Rail or other transport industry experience.


Recruitment  Process:

If your application is successful, you’ll be invited for a phone interview with one of our experienced technical recruiters.

If our recruiter believes you’re suitable for the role, you will then be invited for a phone interview with senior members from the engineering team which will last approximately 30 minutes.

The final stage includes a face to face interview and will involve a series of skills based technical questions.
