McLaren Applied Technologies

McLaren Applied Technologies is a high-performance technology company which combines fresh thinking and innovation to solve crucial challenges and improve people's lives in industries as diverse as health, public transport, automotive and motorsport.

Our team

At McLaren Applied Technologies, our Systems Engineering Team are responsible for ensuring holistic views of complex systems to meet the customer needs.  We endeavour to understand the system as a whole from basic needs; through requirements and interfaces; undertaking multi-dimensional  and often conflicting trade-offs; and we also help ensure we’re doing the right thing  and doing it well during integration and testing. The systems are unique, are varied in size, and usually involve multiple different engineering disciplines (such as electronics; software; mechanical; safety; data analytics; and modelling and simulation).

We work on cutting edge projects where innovation is required to make the best outcomes. The projects we focus on are principally in health, wellness and life sciences; communications solutions; projects with our strategic partners; and generally where data is the heart of informing decision making. We work in a high-energy environment, are self-motivated and all the time represent the McLaren Technology Group Brand. Our team has a diverse range of engineering disciplines and professional paths, from regulated aerospace and pharmaceutical backgrounds to more agile start up streams.
This diversity provides an excellent range of viewpoints and spread of knowledge that complement each other. Combined with all having a passion for technology, we all enjoy what we do and love working together.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the link between customer needs and system design captures all the wants, constraints, and interface requirements. You will develop system and functional requirements and divide these into appropriate sub-functions and modes of operation, and communicate these outwards to the project team responsible for implementation.

You will conduct technical trade-off analysis to resolve technical problems at the different system interface points, and have a good vision of the overall system architecture to see how each component is contributing to the performance and feasibility of the system as a whole.
