The Role:

This role involves the architecture, design, development and testing of applications in support of motorsport control and telemetry systems.

The Off-Car Systems team is responsible for a number of applications to support data systems in motorsport (F1, NASCAR, IndyCar, Le Mans ...) and a rapidly growing market for high volume data analysis tools. These include ATLAS, System Monitor and SQL Race. In professional motorsport, many megabytes of data are logged per lap and analysed in depth by different engineers and specialists at the track and at the factory. On-car data is further enriched by simulation data. Occasional travel and working unsocial hours may be required. Will work within a team of approximately 18 people

 You:

  • You will have a substantial background in .NET desktop software development using C#, developing and delivering highly complex desktop applications in small, highly focussed development teams.
  • You will have a thorough understanding of .NET application architecture and SOLID software engineering principles.
  • Ideally you will have experience of handling, processing and extracting information from large datasets.
  • Have commercial C#/.NET (4.0/4.5) development experience in a Windows desktop application development;
  • Have a solid understanding of .NET application architecture(s);
  • Have a solid understanding of WPF and MVVM;
  • Have experience conforming to SOLID software engineering principles;
  • Have experience in handling large amounts of data in a high throughput environment;
  • Have experience of large multi-threaded application development with scalable performance;
  • Have a thorough approach to both design and debugging with strict attention to detail;
  • Have knowledge of virtualisation technologies;
  • Usage of memory/CPU profilers (pref. Redgate ANTS Performance profiler);
  • Honours Degree in engineering or computer science;
  • High competency in written and oral English language.

  • Work with a team of software developers to deliver products on time;
  • Works well under strict time pressure, which is very common in the world of motor racing;
  • Working understanding and experience in iterative software engineering processes and methodologies;
  • Attention to detail, highly motivated and able to work to tight deadlines;
  • Produces work of a high standard;
  • Escalates technical issues in a timely fashion;
  • Must be a fast learner. Be able to come up to speed on new applications and technology in a very short amount of time;
  • Out of the box thinker, keen to make use of new technology where applicable or see how in-house technology can be reused. 
  • A willingness to take ownership of problems and a determination to see things to completion;
  • Ability to communicate (written and oral) technical issues to a non-technical, business audience;
  • Must be details oriented, with strong analytical skills and problem solving skills;
  • High degree of self-motivation. Must be able to plan and execute work both independently and as a team member.
