Our team
As a part of Modelling and Decision Sciences, you will develop technologies to enhance McLaren's analytics capability and deliver solutions to complex industrial problems. You will support projects and concepts across our key Business Units including Health, Public Transport, Automotive, Motorsport and our Strategic Partnerships.
 
As a member of the Business Analysis & Analytics squad, you will form the front line to understand client needs and convert them into technical solutions. Working closely with the clients, partners, and internal business units, to build the definition of the problem, as well as with technical teams to deliver complex solutions. Combining relevant market and commercial expertise with hands on data science/modelling/simulation skills alongside a comprehensive view of solutions architecture. In a unique position to drive innovation in line with the strategic goals of MAT/MDSci, by bridging the gap between the various technical teams and business / market facing units.
Simulation Operator
This role is to manage the operation and servicing of the McLaren Applied Technologies driving simulator. The role is a blend of client facing interactions and technical deliverables to ensure the safety and performance standards of the simulator are at their highest.
Role Dimensions:
Principle Accountabilities:
• Manage client sessions
• Liaise with business development leads on potential opportunities
• Timetabling simulator usage by consciously managing down time of the system
• Responsible for simulator client interaction
• Operate simulator with client
• Session specific troubleshooting
• Responsible for simulator safety and maintenance
• Conduct company specific demonstrations of the simulator
 
Other Accountabilities
Hardware:
• Simulator scheduled Maintenance (electrical, mechanical)
• Debugging
• Room maintenance including tools (second simulator facility)
• Safety checks and functional checks
Computing:
• Data maintenance - tracks up to date etc.
• Network and machine maintenance (support available)
Other Simulation hardware:
• Steering system maintenance and development
• Future simulators
• Cabinet build and assist in future simulator construction
 
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree in Mechanical, Control or Applied Mechanics Engineering, 2.1 or equivalent experience
• Experience in mechanical hardware maintenance
• Mechanical design experience would be an advantage
• Experience with safety critical systems and their operation is an advantage
• Networking and data communication knowledge would be desirable
• Working knowledge of Matlab and Simulink would be desirable
• Knowledge of any embedded systems would be an asset
