Senior Vehicle Development Engineer

As part of our Track25 business plan we will launch 18 new models or derivatives of our vehicles and look to expand our retailer network into new markets with an aim of having 100 retailers globally. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Senior Development Engineer to join our development team.
Purpose of the Role: To lead vehicle line test and development for McLaren Automotive
Role Dimensions: Responsibility for Development program activities, including Budget, test facilities and vehicle requirements. Regular travel and out of hours activity required in support of development attributes sign-off
Principal Accountabilities:

  • Work to generate appropriate whole vehicle programs to develop and validate engineering designs within new vehicle projects 
  • Lead a team of engineers to deliver development testing programs to agreed quality, budgets and timescales for multiple programs under vehicle line. 
  • Maintain close working relationships with Engineering and Design Team to deliver program goals as a key member of the Product Development leadership team 
  • Vehicle Line management for Future Products. Managing Vehicle Development functions and key accountabilities inclusive of Attribute, Passive Safety and Body Testing as well as prototype builds. 
  • Vehicle Line reporting for all Vehicle Development program deliverables - Point of contact for all Development functions to coordinate Information flow and Budget/Time management responsibility. 
  • Develop a team of engineers offering support and guidance and identifying training needs and opportunities 
  • Deliver program gateway, appraisals and reports

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent, and a robust grasp of engineering theory.
  • Detailed experience of development program delivery, ideally gained on low volume, high performance vehicle programs 
  • Substantial Automotive testing experience 
  • Substantial Knowledge and experience of a broad range of vehicle and rig data acquisition, test and analysis techniques 
  • Excellent PC skills and at ease with MS Office products
