Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer – Augmented Driving to join our Vehicle Electronics team.

Purpose of the role:

As a member of the Electrical & Electronic Systems team, you will be part of a core systems design & development team focused on systems for future McLaren sports cars. You will be responsible for developing Autonomy systems in line with the technology roadmap.

Principal accountabilities:

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the development of Augmented Driving (Autonomy based) systems within an OEM. McLaren wishes to pursue an augmentation of the driving experience as opposed to complete autonomy. This is a unique take on the problem and comes with unique technical challenges. 

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for developing the sensor sets, electronic hardware and software for a specified feature set. You will develop prototypes and deploy them onto test vehicles.

You will work on system engineering activities, specification, functional safety, validation planning, test specification, vehicle testing. For your systems, you will be responsible for delivering all required elements of the McLaren Development Process (MDP) to agreed gateway timings & cost.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Higher degree qualified in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical discipline or equivalent experience. Udacity Self Driving Car Nano Degree qualified would also be considered with relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience of systems design & development in the field of Autonomous Vehicles
  • Experience with any of the following would be advantageous: Radar systems, mono & stereo camera systems, LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, autonomous vehicle software stacks, computer vision, deep neural networks, ADAS ECUs, functional safety (ISO26262), Linux.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (Python, C) & Matlab & Simulink
  • Experience with Vector automotive products (or equivalent) e.g. CANoe, CANape, CANalyser, PREEvision would be advantageous.
