Purpose of the Role:

Perform Structural and Multi-Physics simulation in order to influence designs, achieve required performance parameters and ensure that safety & durability requirements are satisfied

Role Dimensions:

You will be part of the Structural Design Team and will work in co-operation with Design, Aerodynamics and Vehicle Simulation. The primary objective is to drive design solutions that meet structural requirements whilst achieving required performance parameters. This will involve anything from basic sizing (hand calculations) to complex non-linear Finite Element Analysis. A working knowledge of composite analysis/ optimisation methods and fluid-structure interaction is helpful. Woking based. Occasional Travel required. Standard working hours, but flexibility to work additional hours when required.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop and validate FEA structural and multi-physics models
  • Report analysis results in a clear, concise and structured manner
  • Provide recommendations for design improvements
  • Develop new methodologies and undertake capability improvements
  • Instruct and lead rig testing

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Strong Degree in Mechanical/ Aeronautical Engineering or meaningful subject
  • Good knowledge of structural analysis methodologies, including classical calculations, composite analysis and non-linear FEA
  • Proven understanding of Fatigue and Durability of metals
  • Familiar with mainstream FEA solvers and interfaces (preferably Hyperworks, Abaqus, NCode)
  • PC literate and basic CAD skills (Catia V5)
