Snr Project Engineer – Body Exterior systems - BES

Working with cutting edge products, you will be able to create and deliver your own designs and introduce your own ideas without limitations of benchmarks. This is a role that will push you to develop your engineering capability with a major influence on the product with direct input into the design and delivery of all exterior componentry. You will be responsible for concept support through to part delivery, you will work as part of a close nit, cross functional team to deliver components to specification, on time and to budget. The expectation is that you will push the boundaries of manufacture processes and materials to create a truly cutting edge product.

As a Snr Project Engineer, you will be responsible for reporting in to and supporting the Principal Engineers, you will provide leadership to cross-functional teams and will be the face of Body Exteriors on chosen Programs. You will be confronted with technical questions daily. You will also be responsible for attending meetings/reviews and reacting to any issues relevant to your commodity to best serve your customer groups such as SQA, Purchasing and Project Management teams. This role offers great exposure to other areas of the business and at various levels through to Executive Director level. As a Snr member of the team, you will mentor junior members of the team, passing on technical detail and acting as a proxy for the Principal Engineering when required.

It’s safe to say you will be busy in the role, being able to develop your capability of resolving problems, performing root cause analysis and then moving things forward on to SQA. In addition you will be responsible for the release and delivery from concept to production and help with leading the team to deliver in accordance to McLaren Automotive’s development framework.

Skills and Experience:

Design and development experience on various automotive products

A good understanding of Automotive manufacture processes, feasibility and technology

A vast understanding of the complete product lifecycle (concept-delivery)
A great teamworker who is driven to support their team to success

Strong presentation skills – ability to communicate to all levels of the business.
Confidence to challenge the status quo.
Strong CAD knowledge - for opening model and cut sections and add other models for review.
Knowledge of automotive processes such as DFMEA and DVP.
Logical approach to problem solving and work in a methodical manner.
Educated to Degree level in suitable Engineering discipline.
