Job Title: Senior Machinist (CNC Machine Setter & Operator – Milling & Turning)

Purpose of the Role:

To competently follow predefined manufacturing processes to deliver products through advanced and specialised experience, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.

Role Dimensions:

Overtime during certain periods of the year is essential to ensure customer deadlines are achieved. 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Leads and delivers in manufacturing activities following instructions and processes to ensure parts are delivered effectively, efficiently, on-time, to specification and in a cost-effective manner.
  • Lead milling & turning production activities on Mazak machine centres. 
  • Supervises and provides support to build technicians.
  • Completes own work unsupervised and facilitates the work and activities of others; may coordinate work beyond own area.
  • Acts as a lead, proposes improvements to processes and coordinates the work of others.
  • Performs/prepares activities before and during product manufacturing.
  • Follows and communicates understanding of build and inspection procedures, processes and technical documentation.
  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices.
  • Maintains manufacturing documentation to achieve full standards of traceability.
  • Fully contributes to the process of continuous improvements and company goal of achieving zero defects in accordance with ISO9001 certified quality management systems requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Good GCSE grades or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Comprehensive experience in setting up, programming and running CNC machines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical drawings.
  • Experienced in performing 1st mechanical inspection checks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry standards and regulations in order to ensure guidelines are followed and machinery and equipment are operated safety.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical drawings.
  • Has developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job expertise.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Good attention to detail to allow you to maintain or exceed high levels of production standards and efficiency.
  • Ability to fully contribute to the process of continuous improvements.
  • Good understanding of working in similar high technology environment.
