The Role:

We are looking for an experienced Hybrid & Vehicle Systems Engineer to join our team, responsible for the delivery of exceptional innovation in the field of Motorsport. This is a real chance to be integral in the development of the next generation of racing systems.

  • You will be leading the end-to-end Systems Engineering lifecycle across complex state-of-the-art electric and hybrid powertrain solutions for motorsport and automotive applications
  • You’ll also delver technical leadership from eliciting user/product needs, requirements capture/management, through to system integration and test & verification planning.
  • You will be imperative to the development of key technologies across the automotive and motorsport sector, helping to shape the future of the industry.
  • You will plan and deliver solutions and align them with technology roadmaps keeping the business at the forefront of industry trends. Provide technical leadership and contribute to the planning and implementation of projects, bids and proposals.

What are we looking for?

We would like to see you demonstrate the following key skills and attributes throughout all stages of your application process;-

  • A “systems thinker” with solid numerical and analytical skill, able to deliver high standards of systems engineering on complex powertrain systems, utilising high voltage hardware, embedded software, application software and mechanical components.
  • A background in system integration, testing & validation of electric powertrain components, such as, electric machines, power electronics, converters, batteries etc.
  • Clear experience in motorsport hybrid/electrification powertrain applications.
  • Both verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate a competent and collaborative style along with excellent technical knowledge.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence is key as you will need to not only quickly build rapport with peers and stakeholders, but also tactfully challenge without alienating.


Responsibilities:

  • Develops and delivers complex systems with either challenging stakeholders or challenging technology in projects typically lasting 6-18 months. Provides technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams and ensures deliverables are in line with business imperatives.
  • Working concurrently on several projects across the company to provide guidance and direction to junior Engineers.
  • Finds and utilises the right technologies, manages significant risk.
  • Manages interactions with stakeholders with awareness of internal/external interdependencies that may impact the delivery of the solution.
  • Recognised as expert in own function within the organisation.
  • Provides clear technical input to the planning of new products, clients and markets, alongside the commercial team and Chief Engineers.
  • Provides significant technical input into proposals. Contributes to decisions and ensures understanding.
  • Delivers and demonstrates new technologies within commercial and market realities, generating IP as appropriate.
  • Continuously improves engineering processes for the benefit of the business.
  • Able to apply sound engineering principles into new domains/markets. Thinks outside of the box.
  • Ensures solutions/systems meet sector/industry safety compliance standards.
  • Provides guidance on different approaches and techniques to resolve complex issues and potentially yield better results. Actively mentors staff to increase quality.
