Purpose of the Role:

To support the Finance Director in the preparation of forecasts, budgets and long range plans for McLaren Marketing Limited and its subsidiary Team McLaren Limited.  Responsible for the provision of high quality, accurate and insightful financial reporting and commercial support to the Senior Leadership Team.  To challenge stakeholders and assist them in making appropriate commercial decisions.  Assist in implementing ‘best practice’ processes and developing a culture of robust financial control.


The role provides the opportunity to engage with a number of areas of the business and to support the business with recommendations based on intelligent analysis of historic trends and business knowledge.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of the monthly results and variance analysis against forecast and budget
  • Presentation of results at monthly financial review meetings
  • Preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, P&L and balance sheet, for McLaren Marketing and Team McLaren, and attending review meetings with departmental managers
  • Provide quality, value added support to the Head of Finance, the Marketing Executive Board and other colleagues, as directed
  • Liaison with the Financial Accounting team to ensure the effective processing of all financial transactions, preparation of quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and long range plans


  • Evaluate and drive the financial targets and performance of McLaren Marketing and Team McLaren and challenge any variances.
  • Work with department heads in producing Long Range, Quarterly and Monthly forecasts with analyses of actuals against targets and budgets.  Advise on corrective action where necessary.
  • Preparation and delivery of clear, robust and insightful financial and activity based reporting to the management team of Team McLaren on a monthly basis with full variance analysis.
  • Ensure all deadlines and reporting requirements are adhered to.
  • Maintain a cash flow forecast for the current year based on current performance, changing market conditions and updated plans and initiatives
  • Engage with and influence senior personnel to direct best use of resources
  • Maintaining and improving the quality of data and information
  • Analyse and report on capital spend and significant capital programmes
  • Analyse and report on headcount against budgets and forecasts
  • Provide stewardship of company assets, ensuring that information is accurate, reliable and compliant with applicable regulatory and corporate guidelines.
  • Identify and report on internal and external risks and opportunities which could impact on financial performance.  Provide advice to the business on appropriate mitigation of risks.
  • Work with and provide guidance to the Group reporting team and other colleagues across the business, maintaining healthy working relationships yet providing the appropriate expertise and challenge to achieve the financial objectives of the business.
  • Proactively work with business heads to put in place improved management information to allow better decisions to be taken which will drive growth of profits and delivery of cash.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified with a commercial outlook
  • Resilient and confident individual with consummate influencing and persuasion skills.
  • Presentable and personable – the candidate must be immediately credible with stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office including intermediate Excel skills
  • Experience of working within a niche engineering / sports organisation would be an advantage
