The Role


  • As a Senior F1 Track Support Engineer you will provide support at the track and customer factories.
  • You will support the ECU hardware, the ECU operating systems, control software, plus the Windows based application tools used to support the ECU.
  • You will support customers in their development of software for the ECU, written using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • You will diagnose hardware and software problems under pressure, probing problems to objectively understand whether it is a failure of the system or its environment.
  • You will also support the development of the group and be recognised as an expert in their field whilst continuously improving processes relevant to their area of the business.
  • You will assume ownership of a supporting area of the Formula 1 deliverable (such as off car tools, sensors, application code) to provide a focussed interaction for other areas of the business.





  • Are a good communicator with the ability to capture information quickly and accurately.
  • Have a good understanding of all the electronic elements of high end motorsport systems and powertrains.  This includes the characteristics of typical sensors and actuators used in high end motorsport; engine and gearbox control/failure mode strategies.
  • Have good trackside experience of working in high end motorsport.
  • Have experience of the following tools:
    • Engine or gearbox control software, preferably written in Simulink
    • Data analysis tools such as ATLAS
    • ECU set-up tools such as System Monitor
    • Excel, generation of forms and maintenance of VB macros
  • Are able to engage with a broad range of external customers and internal stakeholders
  • Have a First class degree or upper 2nd in relevant engineering or equivalent experience.
