Senior Controls Engineer - Advance Engineering

Location: Woking, GB

When our founder Bruce McLaren passed away at the age of 32 he left behind a legacy that has shaped who we are today. We have an unrivalled heritage which has its roots in racing; but McLaren Automotive is now creating a story of its own and we want you to be a part of it.
As part of McLaren’s Track 25 plan, we are looking to invest £1.2 billion into Research and Development, leading to the launch of 18 all-new cars or derivatives by the end of 2025.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly successful Advanced Engineering team as a Senior Controls Engineer, responsible for delivering embedded control algorithms, diagnostics and calibration on Advanced Engineering Electric mule vehicles.
The Advance Engineering team exists to develop disruptive technology solutions ahead of our vehicle programs, particularly where our existing supply base can’t meet our requirements – ‘advance’ in terms of both timing and as a leap forward.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering embedded control algorithms, diagnostics and calibration on Advanced Engineering Electric mule vehicles;
  • Delivering feasibility and Proof-of-Concept studies through modelling and simulation;
  • Developing, maintaining and enforcing the application of code quality standards and methodologies;
  • Developing innovative solutions from initial idea through to functional prototype as quickly as possible;
  • Travel to proving grounds in all seasons (winter/summer testing), as required.

In addition, Senior Engineers are expected to operate with a large degree of autonomy, responsible for delivering work packages in collaboration with internal MAL teams and external organisations.
As part of the team, you’ll be expected to help your team mates with their projects with technical support or simply brainstorming ideas, and to expand and broaden your areas of technical competence, especially in areas we identify as being particularly relevant to our technology roadmap.
