Job Title:           Sales Planning Analyst

Dept:                  Global Sales & Marketing, McLaren Automotive (based in Woking, UK)

Reports to:         Senior Sales Planning Manager

Purpose of the Role:

 

Reporting to the Senior Sales Planning Manager, the primary focus for this role is the forecasting, analysis and reporting of McLaren sales performance.

 

Main areas of activity:

 

  • Compile, manage & maintain the reporting suite to support the monthly wholesale and retail forecast review process with the regional & central management teams
  • Manage the production allocation process & systems with the regional teams to deliver budgeted order fill on a monthly basis
  • Co-ordinate global sales, order bank, pipeline and car parc reporting at a regional, sub-regional and dealer level
  • Pro-active automotive & macro-economic analysis to identify opportunities & trends

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  • Co-ordinate the sales and marketing month-end reporting process with the regional teams
  • Compile and distribute actualised monthly car flow reports to support the wholesale and retail review process
  • Manage the monthly production allocation process & systems
  • Manage the accuracy of the production timing data held in the allocation system & retailer portal
  • Manage the IT systems requirements for monthly allocations and order scheduling
  • Monitor regional and dealer performance on a daily basis
  • Create and maintain an economic dashboard to inform monthly sales analysis
  • Prepare data for shareholder reporting
  • Prepare analysis for monthly operational planning meeting
  • Create and keep up to date forecast and mix reports for logistics
  • Create option uptake reports, ad-hoc reports and KPI’s for the global sales pipeline
  • Support the launch planning process to plan initial volumes and identify regional pre-order targets
  • Support the annual business planning lifecycle process through ad-hoc analysis & scenario planning
  • Support the annual budget process with the regional and production planning teams
  • Become the key point of contact for current & historic sales and order data
  • Liaise with logistics, production and regional teams to understand and co-ordinate any supply based issues
  • Work with the regional, network development & marketing teams to develop a holistic reporting platform
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis on competitor and McLaren performance
  • Monitor market segment & specific competitor trends
  • Undertake analysis of market data to feed into forecasting process
  • Undertake country specific analysis to inform regional performance management

 

 

 

 

Relevant Education, Knowledge and Experience:

 

Education:

 

  • Degree level education or equivalent experience

 

Experience:

 

  • There is a need for an individual with attention to detail, the ability to turn complex datasets into meaningful analysis and the desire to inform key business decisions
  • Ideally from an automotive, consulting or market analysis background, this individual must meet deadlines without exception and will understand the level of rigour required to achieve these deadlines
  • An analytical background is essential, but more than that, this person will have a natural love for, and curiosity about, cars, the automotive market, and future trends

 

They must also be commercially aware, understanding:

 

  • Current/future automotive business issues eg CO2, hybridisation, electrification, network development
  • Relationship between global trends & local sales
  • Key Performance indicators & how to measure them
  • How value is created in an Automotive Business

 

The person appointed to this role will have:

 

  • Highly developed analytical skills and the ability to build insight from raw data
  • A proactive individual with strong self-management skills
  • Experience of project management
  • An ability to focus on the important details
  • A winning mentality - demonstrates great drive to achieve outstanding results
  • Resilient and adaptable - Able to maintain a consistently high level of work and professional output in times of change
  • Understand the end to end automotive sales process
  • Fluent English. An additional language is an advantage in this global role
  • PC and Microsoft Office Literate. Highly competency in Powerpoint and Excel is a must, desirable skills include:
    • Macros & VBA
    • Pivot Tables
    • Data lookups and manipulation
    • Advanced formulae (i.e Nesting, Arrays, INDEX, MATCH, SUMPRODUCT, GETPIVOT)
    • Advanced charts & graphs
