You will be part of our business plan to launch 18 new models or derivatives of our vehicles, expanding our retailer network into new markets with an aim of having 100 retailers globally. The Role

Reporting to the Purchasing Director (responsible for the McLaren Automotive SQA). You will be responsible for delivering the Capacity and Quality of circa 100 supplier sites tooled globally, leading dedicated SQA site teams engaged in simultaneous engineering delivery of new Vehicle & Powertrain products. You will provide strategic leadership within the cross functional management teams, to reinforce the supplier advanced product quality planning (APQP) process discipline, collaborating with Product Development, Manufacturing and Purchasing to remove roadblocks to McLaren quality & supply issues.

 

Providing leadership in the supplier sourcing strategic decision  making process, particularly in supplier manufacturing capability, quality, capacity, delivery and assess any potential manufacturing supplier risk management issues.

You will be required to conduct regular reviews of the supply base part quality and part availability in support of the McLaren business objectives.

Develop strategic supply base improvement initiatives, that under pin the McLaren continuous improvement ethos.  

 

Principal accountabilities:

  • Establish and drive supply base performance metrics (QOS).
  • Lead / Co Lead Supplier Business reviews with Purchasing to leverage improved Quality / supply performance.
  • Plan SQA Site Management resources to cover the supply base effectively.
  • Champion Critical supplier issues that require Supplier Senior Management engagement.
  • Support Supplier selection & development processes to achieve a self-sufficient supply base (IATF16949). Review delivery of Non IATF16949 suppliers to deliver their certification qualification to the approved sourcing plan.
  • Review effectiveness to target for Supplier Quality QCR issue resolution (8D) process to closure, to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Review adequacy of current production support with immediate response to Supplier Quality related build roadblocks.
  • Review adequacy of current production support with immediate response to Supplier Quality related build roadblocks and lead Robust Manufacturing Feasibility deployment reviews.
  • Conduct reviews with the SQA Managers to ensure all new tooled parts have APQP reporting established at the earliest opportunity and PPAP approvals are delivered to the agreed plan.
  • Engage Cross Functional Leadership partners to drive collaborative behaviours to achieve optimum outcome for McLaren Performance.
  • Ensure McLaren Values are embedded into Site Management Operational strategy and drive performance to target.
  • Lead and approve training and development plans for the SQA Site Managers and Engineers to include succession planning, self-development, mobility and develop technical process knowledge expertise within SQA.

 

Knowledge, skills & experience:

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Technical Engineering qualified to degree standard or relevant experience.
  • Manufacturing engineering, Production and Quality experience in Automotive or Aerospace.
  • Demonstrated Leadership experience.
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Lean / Fast tool changeover (SMED) and Poka-Yoke experience
  • Capacity Planning & Verification experience.
  • 6 Sigma
  • Structured Problem Solving (8D)
  • Robustness – Taguchi Methods
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
