McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is a division of McLaren Automotive, responsible for the design, development and delivery of personalised and bespoke vehicle commissions, performance details and options, as well as overseeing and ensuring McLaren legacy vehicles remain road worthy and up to date.  MSO products and services represent world class McLaren offerings.

Whilst the role is primarily an SQA (Supplier Quality Assurance) Engineer, the MSO Quality department covers all aspects of Quality and so offers a unique opportunity to be involved with many different Quality activities.

Purpose of the role:

As SQA Engineer you will be working within a dynamic team responsible for the Sign off on all engineering drawings/ CAD Data from a Quality perspective.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Drive the assigned Suppliers to ensure components achieve/exceed the required quality level specified.
  • Ensure all Concern investigation (8D) and QCR’s are resolved on time for Series production parts within the Commodity Group.
  • Drive the development of supplier processes to BIC standards at supplier locations.
  • Support production preparation using the Supplier Capacity Verification process to ensure smooth production ramp-up and maintain stability in series production.
  • Manage and control up front quality planning within the supply base through effective APQP deployment and monitoring.
  • Manage and Control on time approval of production parts and processes (PPAP) for components.
  • Drive Implementation and management of part and process improvement activities.
  • Lead Project status and Management report provision as required.
  • Track Supplier on time delivery of TS16949 achievement plans.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Engineering Degree Level Qualification or equivalent
  • Significant level of expertise in an automotive OEM or Tier One automotive environment
  • Ability to read, understand and assess engineering drawings, CAD data and Geometric Dimensions and Tolerancing
  • Confident in working with Suppliers on APQP activities and understanding of why APQP elements are carried out
  • Good understanding of Quality methods, Structured Problem Solving techniques and Modern Quality approach
  • UK and overseas travel will be necessary – (driving license and passport required)
