Quality Specialist - Complex Analysis

Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Quality Specialist to join our Complex Analysis Quality team.

Purpose of the role:

As a Quality Specialist, you will be working within the Quality Engineering team and managing the handover of primary analysis from the operations team through to the Complex Analysis team.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Managing the handover of Primary Analysis results to the Complex Quality team
  • Validation of 4M activities on receipt of complex quality issues – Validation of the 4M to ensure man, method, machine and material process has been followed and the correct output has been identified
  • Supporting the Quality Operations team with containment implementation for highlighted concerns
  • Functional Validation problem analysis
  • Carrying out Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on concerns identified during the Functional Validation processes including Water leak, Squeak & Rattle and Dynamic performance
  • Managing these faults through the McLaren Problem Solving process while raising the necessary documentation
  • Complex Problem Analysis
  • Working with the Complex Quality Engineers you will be supporting in the Cause and Effect evaluation of complex concerns. This will include data analysis, process audits and line trials.
  • Understanding the role of DFMEA / PFMEA within the manufacturing environment
  • Liaising with other engineering function areas to ensure all agreed actions are completed

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Mechanical / automotive engineering or similar or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • 8D or Practical Problem Solving (PPS)
  • Methodical approach to work with strong analytical skills
  • Experience of vehicle development from a customer quality perspective
  • Vehicle assembly processes
  • Trim and final processes
  • Complex vehicle systems
  • Basic understanding of SPC, statistics and process capabilities

  • Understand and appreciation for low volume vehicle production and brand requirements
  • Ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority is crucial
