Pure McLaren GT Series Manager

For the next 6 years as part of McLaren’s Track 22 plan, we are looking to invest £1 billion into Research and Development, leading to the launch of 15 all-new cars or derivatives during this period.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven individual to join our McLaren Experience team as the Pure McLaren GT Series Manager.

Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the Head of Marketing Services, we now have an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to join McLaren Automotive (MAL). Based at McLaren’s global headquarters in Woking, Surrey, the Pure McLaren GT Series Manager will be responsible for the promotion, commercialization, organization and management of the Pure McLaren GT Series, our new FIA approved one make customer racing series launched in 2018.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Liaison with the FIA, MSA and BARC regarding the sporting regulations, technical regulations, race permits, fees, licences, insurance, sporting code compliance and other mandatory documents
  • Manage competitor relations throughout year both pre event and on event (entries, fees, invoicing, official passes, sign on, queries, results, sanctions)
  • Control budget for specific racing services and facilities within wider event budget
  • Liaise with circuit sporting departments in run up to and on event to ensure smooth running of the races
  • Organize on site event briefings with local and international sporting director, scrutineers, race director, event management team, clerk of the course, medical officer, MSA observer, FIA observer)
  • Work with promotional and marketing team to create race video footage and collaborate with PR on post event distribution
  • Support with creation and management of race hospitality offer to McLaren Sponsors and Retailers so that they can to invite guests to view races and race viewing package to wider McLaren Owner base
  • Responsible for the acquisition of new competitors throughout the year and renewal for the following season
  • Produce a Series Organisation Handbook to facilitate event planning and provide blueprint for planning and roll out of the Series in NA and other regions

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Degree qualified in Marketing/Business or related discipline
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the world of Motorsport and the Automotive industry
  • Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills
  • Flexible and self-disciplined, with a great ability to adapt in rapid changing environments.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively with multi-functional teams and suppliers
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including weekends, and work on location for large periods of time are a must

  • Exemplary spoken and face to face communication skills, exceptional personal presentation
  • Ability to manage relationships at all levels and strong customer service skills to effectively deal with the competing demands of various stakeholders.
