Purchasing Manager

We are currently looking to recruit a Purchasing Manager who will report directly to the Head of Purchasing.


Purpose of Role:

McLaren Automotive is a commercially driven environment, with particular emphasis on supplier development and effective negotiation. You will be working with a highly skilled and motivated team that is keen on developing best practice purchasing techniques and supply chain philosophies.


Role Dimensions:

  • You will be responsible for the effective sourcing and procurement of a range of products for all of McLaren’s vehicle platforms, including the McLaren 540C, 570S,  and 720S and future high performance road cars.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Purchasing
  • Full procurement responsibility for both pre-series and series expenditure
  • Programme Value +£100m
  • Managing a team of experienced Purchasing professionals
  • To deliver against aggressive targets for the Purchasing function to support organisational growth
  • Primary accountability in the implementation and management of Supplier Contracts
  • Lead complex negotiations and support the teams in the development of long term strategies for multi-million pound projects
  • Create an organisation where talent is supported in its development by training, and mentoring assignments


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Business Degree / MCIPS qualified
  • Ability to promote best practice purchasing Techniques
  • Leader of a high performing commercial team
  • Proven commercial success / strong negotiator
  • Previous manufacturing / automotive experience
  • Proven supply chain experience in dealing with both high and low value organisations
