McLaren Special Operations create cars around an owner’s precise tastes, and an extensive interiors options list across the entire McLaren range including Carbon Fibre sill covers and front facia vents through to the Electrochromic roof on the 570GT.

Our customers want the best in Automotive content and to ensure we can meet their expectations we are looking for a Project Leader to join our Programme Management Office to help us deliver breath-taking and innovative components and systems for our MSO Defined range.

Purpose of the role:

As Project Leader, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of MSO Defined features according to the McLaren Automotive Development Process (MDP), and to main programme timings. You will be responsible for driving the other departments within MSO to a successful project status across each Defined components gateway.

Whilst focusing on the delivery, we are also looking for the Project Leader to act as a true Brand ambassador for MSO across McLaren’s core business engineering team and also the wider McLaren Group.  

Principal accountabilities:

  • Lead a cross functional team to define and deliver systems and components to agreed timing, cost, (BOM & Investment), weight, and quality targets
  • Chair Project meetings and manage all cross functional activities to meet timings
  • Support and manage system and component, design, release, development and validation plans in association with functional experts
  • Respond to requests for information or specification change with assessment of risk and cost and ensure full documentation
  • Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviews
  • Assist and provide day to day direction to the principle stakeholders to achieve a successful vehicle launch that supports Quality, Cost and timing targets
  • Liaise with main programmes about vehicle prototype programs to meet sign-off requirements

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to lead and motivate a small focused team and work cross functionally
  • Programme Management experience from the automotive industry, either full vehicle, or from engineering function
  • Automotive design and development experience
  • Experience of niche vehicle (low volume) programmes
  • Well organised and delivery focused – with demonstrable track record of on-time delivery in a high-pressure environment

  • Strong communication skills through all mediums, with the ability to organise and chair project reviews and deliver concise explanations of design changes to change management teams;
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to project manage design tasks both internally and with the supplier(s).
