With a backdrop of continued growth and success, McLaren Automotive is now looking for a Project Engineer to work on our Motorsport Programmes and help deliver the future cars for McLaren Motorsport.


Purpose of the Role:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for working across the various functions within the Motorsport organisation to ensure the on-time and successful delivery of our Motorsport Vehicles. 


Principal accountabilities:

  • Working with the core engineering teams to support ‘Engineering Release’;
  • Work with Engineering & Production operations to lead the design and development of systems and to ensure optimised vehicle performance and customer satisfaction
  • Support Product Data Management & Variant Configuration
  • Define Product Structure & Engineering Records.
  • Manage the Recording, Root Cause Analysis and Resolution of all concerns raised during build, and in the field.
  • Maintain design guides, Tech Specs & Test Specs.
  • Support DFMEA & associated activity.
  • Training of support engineers in our procedures and practices for events
  • Work with the supply chain in association with the Supply Chain Management team to ensure delivery of components and spares on schedule for all program phases 
  • Provide coordination and manage engineering defined test plans (DVP)
  • Provide support for some CAD related design work and checking of CAD



Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Motorsport Discipline
  • Previous experience in a Motorsport or OEM environment
  • Commercial awareness, understanding of ‘Business Case’, profit etc.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to lead and motivate a small focused team and work cross functionally
  • Race car engineering experience essential
  • Adopts a creative & thoughtful approach to concept design and solving engineering problems with good attention to detail and an engaging mind, open to new problems outside their normal comfort zone
  • Well organised and delivery focused – with demonstrable track record of on-time delivery in a high-pressure environment
