Programme Vehicle Line Manager

Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Programme Vehicle Line Manager to join our PMO team.
 
Purpose of the role:
The programme vehicle line manager forms part of the McLaren Automotive, Programme Management Office.  You will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate strategy for each project within the vehicle line is followed and to ensure to maximise efficiency, accuracy and profitability of each individual project. Influence the Vehicle Line Directors and support Project Management Office in applying Project Governance process and tools to achieve project targets and business imperatives with robust, efficient and consistent delivery of vehicle projects. Coaching and mentoring the Project Leads to ensure they operate per the Project Management processes and deploy best practices and behaviours while taking advantage of the Programme VLMs expertise and knowledge base.
Principal accountabilities:

  • Contribute and support the business plan, mission, objectives and strategies for the vehicle line.
  • Effectively manage the assigned project to minimize risks and maximise opportunities.
  • Communicate project information and status to key stakeholders across the business.
  • Schedule, hold and minute regular team meetings with timely follow up and closure.
  • Schedule, prepare and conduct project reviews within the MDP process
  • Line manage Project Leads and analysts for variant and main programmes. 
  • Work effectively within a matrix organisation with direct report line to the PMO whilst delivering towards project based goals set by Vehicle Line leadership on multiple parallel projects. 
  • Lead and manage, with Project Leads and key stakeholders, simultaneous engineering on relevant vehicle lines.
  • Ensure that Project MDP deliverables are completed robustly and on time for vehicle line. 
  • Accountable for managing the headcount budget for the Vehicle Line across the PMO department, including internal and external head count.  With an understanding of full programme resources.
  • Ensuring goals are cascaded, communicated, reporting and achieved at every stage of the project. 
  • Working closely with the vehicle line and PMO leadership and other relevant stakeholders to define and implement goals for all projects under your responsibility. 
  • Be the project leadership in any absence and holidays and ensure that critical tasks and meetings are carried out to time inc. budget responsibility. 
  • Responsible for leading and presenting gateway status at executive level.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • An experienced automotive leader of direct and indirect teams. 
  • Experienced in project delivery in an OEM or tier one supplier. 
  • Proven ability in delivery project management within a Prince 2 or similar framework.
  • Proven experience in automotive product development or project leadership function.
  • Experience of niche vehicle programmes (between 500-10000). High volume production experience will also be of benefit.
  • PC literate and at ease with MS Office products. 
  • Sound commercial and financial awareness.
  • Degree level qualified
