Production and Quality Solutions Analyst

Location: Woking, GB

Purpose of Role

As a Production & Quality Solutions Analyst, you will be a key member of our Business Solutions team who ensure that key business applications are optimised to allow McLaren to deliver their time critical objectives. 

Key Responsibilities


  • Work with team members, to provide functional and technical expertise to leverage the capabilities of SAP PP, QM and MES Solutions.
  • Extract and document fundamental requirements from key business users, then determine suitable solutions with which to fulfil them.
  • Communicate and present proposed solutions to a broad business community, publicise the consequences and impacts, then own the solution through to delivery.


  • Produce end-to-end solutions for new and existing projects (blueprints, gap analysis, functional specifications, build and test management).
  • Drive adoption and understanding of changes to ensure successful implementation
  • Provide excellent responsiveness to level 2 and 3 incident resolution (containment, root-cause analysis, problem statements) whilst maintaining timely communication to all affected parties
  • Drive our 3rd party support partners to deliver world class support and development
  • Deliver changes, projects, solutions, documents, processes or advice which bring the greatest benefit to the end customer whilst ensuring that all system platforms remain robust and stable.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure continuation of service is maintained; helping, guiding and assisting first line colleagues to safeguard that this will be achieved.
  • Provide high-quality mentoring, knowledge transfer and training to business key users and CoE peers
  • Support service and delivery improvement to optimise business solutions and value across McLaren

To support success in this role, you will have experience and/or knowledge of the following areas: 

  • Knowledge of SAP’s ERP6 platform
  • Proficient in the design, configuration and testing in at least two of the following functional areas:
  • SAP Production Planning – Make to Stock and Make to Order scenarios, MRP Strategies, Reference Operation Sets, PSS, PRTs, Capacity Planning, Capacity Scheduling theories.
  • SAP Quality Management – Quality Levels, Notifications, DMR, Master Inspection Characteristics, Inspection Plans, PPAP, Concessions, IQOS
  • Other non-SAP Manufacturing Systems e.g. Jobshop/ Javelin, Aegis MES, Sage ERP, Oracle, Infor, Epicor, PPAP Solutions, Flags, PDS.
  • Discrete manufacturing industry experience, with an understanding of Quality and Production business processes (ideally in Automotive)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing theories e.g. Poka-Yoke, Kanban, Kaizen, Capacity Scheduling, Theory of Constraints, Industry 4.0.
  • Managing customers to ensure that proposed changes meet or exceed requirements, are robust, tested, documented and introduced through controlled change
  • Incident analysis, problem solving and the ability to communicate findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Key integration points with the Warehouse Management, Materials Management, Sales, PLM and Finance modules of SAP
  • Business analysis skills; requirements elicitation, process mapping, business process redesign and implementation
  • Systems implementation skills: requirements/process analysis, conceptual and detailed design, configuration, testing, training, reporting, change management, support

We would also welcome knowledge of;

  • S/4 and/or S/4 Cloud
  • Reading and debug knowledge of ABAP
