Location: Woking, GB

McLaren Automotive as a business has grown significantly over the past few years and so has our product range, as we continually work to meet the demands of our customers. As a result of our growing product offering, we are now looking to recruit a Production Vehicle Team (PVT) Manager.

As PVT Manager, you will be responsible for the prioritisation, containment, and resolution of production issues and quality concerns. You will support warranty concerns for the entire product range of McLaren Automotive, including those currently in production. Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing changes that arise due to changes in legislation and campaign management (warranty/field issues).

Supporting the Head of Series, you will have the challenging role of being the single point of contact and interface between engineering and production and occasionally SQA, with targets to hit and ensuring that vehicle faults are minimised and customers have a positive experience with McLaren products.

Therefore you will have a vast impact on the success of our business as you will have the scope to influence the way we operate to accommodate growth and ensure we are working in an efficient way, to allow us to hit production targets and become more profitable and competitive.

As a Manager, you will have responsibility for a team of 7 engineers, working together to generate KPI’s for the business and for yourselves. This will be a new team and you will likely be involved in recruiting and building this team around you. You will also lead indirect teams from the function groups – body, chassis, electrical and powertrain.

Familiar with 8D, you will champion our practical problem solving (PPS) methodology (training provided), which is very similar. You will be presented with a variety of problems to tackle with quick turnaround times expected, and responsibility for whole vehicle across all our vehicle lines, no two days will be the same.

We like to ensure that our employees feel supported in their career goals and we take career development seriously. We offer a catalogue of training accessible to all employees from excel, conflict resolution to mindfulness. We promote all our vacancies internally to boost internal mobility and allow employees to move upwards as well as sideways.

As a manager of people, we will endeavour to get you enrolled on to our Manager Effectiveness Programme (MEP), this is currently in high demand from the business. MEP is a 2-year programme developed to continually improve and develop your ability to manage effectively.

Working together to make things happen is part of the continuous improvement culture we have at McLaren Automotive, we are looking for someone who shares these values and passion for continuous improvement.

There will likely be some opportunity to travel around the UK and overseas, to support the Executive Director on quality visits, which will involve working with dealerships to understand issues and working with suppliers to provide solutions.

Working at McLaren Automotive you will be part of the McLaren Group - there are plenty of benefits to take advantage of, such as childcare vouchers, flexible working (depending on role), generous holiday allowance, contributory pension, executive car lease scheme, onsite gymnasium and swimming pool and a subsidised restaurant, plus a lot more. Not to mention discounts on the McLaren store and our partner organisations

This role would be highly suited to a Senior/Principal Engineer, looking for the next step into a management role. This would also be suited to an experienced manager, looking for additional exposure to other areas of a vehicle and therefore offering the chance to have whole vehicle experience.

To be successful in this role you should be very familiar with quality tools such as FMEA/DFMEA/PFMEA and APQP is essential. Ideally you should have experience within a quality function and knowledge in body systems, but this is not essential. Proven ability to deliver cost down initiatives within a manufacturing environment would be required. An advantage would also include knowledge of CAE/FEA simulation tools to be able to interrogate data/models.

If you consider yourself a resilient individual, are proactive and are passionate about cars as we are, you should consider applying today.
