Background

McLaren Applied has been a product business in Motorsports since it was founded in 1988. In addition to Motorsports the Company has now developed product and services business in the Automotive, Public Transport and Health markets where we see significant growth potential. Our strategy is to develop a scalable product business across all markets and we have developed a Product Management framework to support this initiative.

The product business is underpinned by intellectual property, engineering capability and technology platforms in the fields of electronics, software, data science and design. This challenge is extremely broad in technology and market scope and we require very clear thinking and process to create the best technology, platform and product strategies to support rapid business growth.

Function Purpose 
Through strong knowledge of the external environment, customers and competitors, the Business Line function captures market requirements and defines opportunity for market segment, creating and delivering against product road maps that give scalable and profitable revenue. 
This includes responsibility for market positioning, penetration, pipeline and business wins. 
The function has full ownership for the successful delivery of segment P&L.  
It partners with CTO and Product Development to capture data for future products and their launch. 
Role Purpose 
To develop and own the successful delivery of the marketing strategy for disruptive future transport product lines.  

You will work with the in-house product management, development, design and engineering teams to ensure that current and future market needs are met, and support in the definition of future innovative platforms. The key objectives of the role are to grow product revenue and market share in emerging Mobility segments that beats annual financial forecast and creates scale and future revenue.  
Responsibilities 

  • Define, communicate and execute a marketing strategy that covers at least B2B and B2C directions, regularly reviewing and reporting on progress.  
  • Create and iterate go to market plans and ensure the business case for the product portfolio is kept up to date. 
  • Create compelling branding, product narratives and brand stories for the product line and portfolio that aligns to, and in some instances shapes the McLaren Applied and McLaren Group master branding. 
  • Ensure the brand messaging is strong, differentiated and consistent across all channels, assets and marketing efforts. 
  • Develop clearly defined value propositions based on a detailed understanding of the product, target audience, McLaren Brand and competitor landscape. 
  • Develop clear sales targeting strategies that ensure a data-led approach to establishing product market fit across our key markets. 
  • Establish, develop and deploy a CRM strategy for the product line.  
  • Develop and execute fit for purpose marketing campaigns that generate and sustain demand, underpinned by a test and learn data-led strategy for continued optimisation. 
  • Regularly review customer forecast and revenue projections against plan.  
  • Inform retail strategy and lead all marketing effort associated with key retail partnerships. 
  • Identify gaps in sales coverage and proactively cover where priority is clear. Own contract negotiation where required.  
  • Develop and maintain up to date knowledge of the relevant Mobility markets. Understand and interpret market requirements / trends and provide clear direction for the company.  
  • Continuously monitor and analyse competitor activities core and adjacent to our market.  
  • Identify and justify new platform, product and market opportunities to enhance the near-term and long-term competitiveness of the business line roadmap and translate for Product Management. 
  • Identify and target the most applicable agencies and partners to meet our strategy plan aims 
  • Manage agencies and partners to successful deliver the marketing strategy on time and on budget.   

 Minimum Experience / Qualifications 
•    Marketing degree, MBA or equivalent technical marketing experience. 
•    Good working knowledge of future mobility trends and related technologies. 
•    Experience leading marketing for a high-profile luxury or performance brand. 
•    Extensive customer facing experience in both business and consumer markets. 
•    Demonstrated track record of defining differentiated technical offerings and communicating       
      them to customers. 
•    Demonstrated ability to consult with customers, close business wins and deliver targeted 
      solutions. 
•    Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to internal and 
      external executive audiences.  
•    Effective and proven interpersonal skills.
