Taking decades of expertise from advanced telemetry, data-driven performance optimisation and virtual product development, join us on a journey like no other. We are a technology company which combines fresh thinking and innovation to solve crucial challenges and improve people's lives in a diverse range of industries.

Purpose of the Role

We are searching for a Digital Product Designer, ideally someone with hybrid expertise across Digital Product Design and Industrial Design. Our primary requirement is for digital proficiency, but we recognise the value of having people in the team with a background in Industrial Design and therefore an ability to appreciate both physical and digital form, function & interaction.

Foremost, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of team shaping the future of mobility, but you should also expect to play a part in other initiatives where your digital design skills will be called upon to do more than just create app screens or websites – you’ll be instrumental in the formation of innovative product and service propositions across a number of other dynamic high-growth markets.

Expect to work in an inter-disciplinary and dynamic environment where you will be required to take personal responsibility for the activities that you undertake.

Principal Accountabilities

The role requires leadership and collaboration on a wide variety of projects from initial concept, to final product delivery. The person in this role must be comfortable with early discovery phases and be able to navigate the chaos of front-end innovation; tackling observational research through to insight and ultimately into product user requirements.

In the first six months the person in this role will lead on the digital experience for a future mobility project. This is a relatively small, but impactful team and you will be the got-to expert for digital UX & UI, whilst also happy collaborating closely with technical teams across functions including Mechanical, Electronics, Systems, Modelling, Simulation and Data Science.

The role requires proficiency in the creation of compelling narratives, and developing them into User Journeys, User Archetypes, Use Cases and ultimately into wireframes, digital prototypes and desirable user experiences.

A recognised expert in Digital Product (including but not limited to UI) within our diverse and technically driven organisation, bringing your own fresh thinking and experience to our projects and ways of working

Responsible for being a champion of Digital Design and Design Processes and advocating the strategic value it brings to the business. Specifically demonstrating value through project delivery and by being open and engaged with the wider technical community.

Leadership of projects, as well as supporting wider programmes of product development through more executional design practices.

Openly sharing ideas and inviting collaboration with others at all levels of McLaren Applied. Seek to build and strengthen technical relationships across McLaren Group whilst being conscious of commercial sensitivities.

Act as a mentor and role model, sharing knowledge and expertise outside of own area.
