Purpose of the Role: The Quality Process Engineer will report to and assist the Quality Operations Manager in the following disciplines:-

 

Role Dimensions:

 

The Quality Process Engineer will be expected to

 

  • Provide first hand support in the development and execution of all quality practices.
  • Lead by example, working within own functional area as well as cross functionally
  • Support and assist the quality operations team to drive improvement in the business areas of Project, Safety, Quality, Cost Management, People Development and Product Delivery.
  • Support and assist the quality operations team in scoping, specifying and delivering best operational practices in alignment with brand expectations.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

 

Health and Safety

  • Support the quality operations manager and wider business functions to ensure safe working practices are implemented and upheld
  • Support the quality operations manager and wider business functions to ensure all staff maintain and use appropriate PPE
  • Support in the investigation of near misses and accidents

Quality

  • Support the quality operations  manager and wider business functions to ensure all quality targets are correctly specified and achieved
  • Support the quality operations manager:
    1. Process compilation
    2. In problem solving initiatives
    3. Implementation of customer containment actions.
    4. In continuous improvement initiatives
    5. Torque Control process, procedure and performance monitoring

Manufacturing:

  • Support the quality operations manager in the generation of standard operating procedures for all quality stations and gateways. As well as if required supporting if and when required.
    • Design Reviews
    • PFMEA
    • DFMEA
    • Line Balancing
    • Assembly sequencing, Process Documentation and Product Traceability methodology

Cost

  • Assist the control of cost drivers for the Quality department
  • Initiate cost control and cost improvement activities
  • Conduct work studies to routinely line balance and improve efficiency
  • Support the quality operations manager in the achievement of the departmental budget.

Other

  • Work in conjunction cross functionally with the wider business organisation, to coordinate the smooth launch into production of new models and subsequent derivatives and model year changes ensuring all quality, cost and volume targets are achieved.
  • Carry out any other tasks required by business needs

 

Personal Specification

  • The candidate will have excellent motivational, coaching and leadership skills
  • The candidate will have an understanding of niche vehicle brand requirements
  • The candidate will have good working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of process design and compilation
  • An ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority is essential
  • The candidate will have determination to drive forward the business to ‘Best in Class’ performance standards in line with brand expectations
  • Needs to be a lateral thinker and be able to make structured and objective decisions
  • Demonstrate a methodical approach towards problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • The applicant must be extremely trustworthy
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Have value added experience in the field of production vehicle manufacturing.
