Principal Engine Buyer

Location: Woking, GB

We have a rare opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional, to join our Purchasing Team at our Woking site on a permanent basis.

There are two types of candidates that we are looking for; those senior purchasing professionals who are keen to focus on the strategic and operational side of purchasing rather than people management, or those candidates looking for a platform for a future managerial position.

This position is working on the highest value item in the car, making this one of the most critical and important roles within the purchasing organisation.   

As our Principal Buyer you will have a sound understanding of Engines and be responsible for developing and planning the future engine sourcing strategy. You will be the principle escalation point for issues that arise within the engine purchasing team and be able to support the close out of such issues. You will be sourcing and nominating future platforms, working on ensuring we get the most cost-effective, robust solution for our future engine platform. You will be responsible for ensuring the engine supplier is delivering to contracted KPI’s and negotiating and agreeing future engine contracts.

This role is extremely fast-paced where no two days are the same. You will have a strategic mindset and be able to work autonomously without direction. You will have a strong ability to negotiate complex systems and be able to operate at a senior level both internally and externally.

We are looking for candidates from either an engineering or commercial background. Someone who can be a leader within the organisation and be able to command a good level of authority within your team. You will be influential and have a good understanding of stakeholder and senior leadership expectations.
