Committed to our 6-yearlong business plan – track 22, we are looking to invest £1 billion into Research and Development, leading to the launch of 15 all-new cars or derivatives until the year 2022.
 

We are recruiting a Principal Body Engineer to be responsible for the management and delivery of complete body systems– interior, exterior and body-in-white for all McLaren models within Series Development.
 

Reporting to the Sports Series Body Vehicle Line Manager, working in a matrix environment, you will be responsible for all Series Body Engineering activities working across all McLaren vehicles lines including Sports, Super and Ultimate platforms. The core focus of this role will be to maintain the quality, performance and commercial integrity of McLaren’s production fleet. Other core focuses of this role will be to drive weight reduction, maximise performance and maintain brand identity.
 

In this role, your priorities will focus on 4 key areas – teamwork, people & performance, goals and problem-solving. Working with and indirectly leading internal and external resource, the aim will be to ensure all teams are delivering on your project, to time, cost and weight. There will also be elements of travel required for the role, to visit engineering partners, dealerships and suppliers.

To be successful in this role you should possess an established background in automotive body engineering. You should be able to demonstrate your experience in working with more than one body engineering area. Delivery will play a big part in this role; therefore, you should have a proven track record in delivering multiple parallel projects on time and to budget. The successful candidate will also be an excellent communicator with the ability to lead & motivate cross functional teams to make things happen. Working within a series environment, your problem-solving skills should also be excellent.
