Production Vehicle Team (PVT) Zone Engineer

To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for a PVT Zone Engineer to join our team.

 

Purpose of Role:

  • Support the production line with Technical Support to ensure that the production line is capable of outputting 22UPD.
  • Containment of Production Engineering Quality Concerns within your zone
  • RCA of quality concerns following PPS methodology
  • Support New Product Launches into MPC ensuring minimal impact to existing product output.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Support the containment of all Production Engineering Quality Concerns highlighted within your Zone within 24hrs
  • Provide feedback to the PVT team on all Downtime assigned to Engineering.
  • Track trending issues and ensure appropriate escalation/resolution.
  • Raising Build Deviation Requests (BDRs) for approval by PVT Senior.
  • Validate and buyoff with the Team Leader the application of all new BDRs within your zone, whilst aiming to drive down overall BDR count.
  • Support the Shift Engineers with data to feed back into Daily Audit Meetings
  • Participate in the progression of all Engineering Quality Concerns up to Step 6 within the PPS methodology ensuring robust Root Cause Analysis.
  • Promote technical excellence and cross functional working within the PVT team by sharing your knowledge and expertise, helping to develop the team into truly cross-functional support
  • Act as a touchpoint between production shifts for your Zone to ensure all containments and issues from the previous shift are properly communicated.
  • Manage the introduction of new Series Engineering change content into your Zone including the organisation and execution of line trials. Ensuring that the changes are flagged to the Team Leaders and Zone Controllers.
  • Use technical expertise to support new product introduction in order to minimise required function group support.
  • Educate & Coach Engineering logic to the Operators/Zone team (ie the importance of Torque Sequences)

     

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Previous experience in an Engineering Production Environment
  • Experience of high volume or niche vehicle (low volume) programmes
  • Relevant Experience in System Design and materials technology
  • Knowledge of GD+T and its application in automotive environment.
  • PC literate and at ease with MS Office products.
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5 advantageous
  • Comfortable with understanding and implementing DFM/DFA requirements within the project scope.

 

Qualifications and Training

Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree or equivalent
