Role:

The Manufacturing Engineer role is to focus on product and process improvements for current and legacy Mclaren products. Positioned between production and engineering this role is the main technical interface between the two and includes post design support work for products in production.

 

Reporting to the NPI Team Leader, you will be responsible for liaising with engineering, production and project teams to achieve the successful product and process analysis of existing products and the continued manufacturing support of our diverse product range.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse Mclarens range of current and legacy electro-mechanical products and associated document packages to obtain data for implementation of process improvements.
  • Migrating existing document packages over to the new format.
  • Supporting released products through their complete life-cycle.
  • Contribute to process FMEA (Failure Mode Effects Analysis).
  • Specialised equipment identification and procurement.
  • Continued support for legacy products via the production quality circles thereby maintaining manufacturability.
  • Initiating & coordinating engineering changes in manufacturing.
  • Fully contribute to the process of continuous improvement and the company goal of achieving zero defects in accordance with ISO9001 certified quality management systems requirements.
  • Follows and communicates understanding of production procedures, processes and technical documentation.
  • Works autonomously within established procedures and practices.
  • Analyse build processes and products for cost improvements.
  • Assist with introduction of existing products into the Aegis MES (Manufacturing Execution System).
  • Assist with NPI activities as and when required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a combination of relevant education and work-related experience within a Electro- mechanical environment – a HND or HNC will be considered with strong supporting relevant experience.
  • Have developed proficiency in a range of processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job expertise.
  • An understanding of relevant IPC standards.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of electro-mechanical products and manufacturing processes at both PCBA and box build/HL (High Level) assembly.
  • Good understanding of Mechanical production techniques
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team to meet demanding project milestones.
  • Good PC skills.
  • Good time management.
  • Excellent attention to detail to maintain or exceed the high levels of production standards and efficiency.
  • Excellent attention to detail in relation to oral and written communication.
  • Facilitator and Negotiator - key element of role is the bringing together of cross functional teams and finding solutions to problems quickly.
  • Ability to fully contribute to the process of continuous improvement.
  • Good understanding of working in a similar high technology environment.
  • Experience of lean manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques – PCBA Surface mount and conventional assembly, machining and surface finishes.
  • Experience in product routings and workflows.
  • Experience of using or configuring an MES system, ideally Aegis FactoryLogix® - Desirable but not essential
