The role of New Business Development Manager is primarily, (but not exclusively) to identify, engage and win new business from clients where MAT his little or no current presence, aliged to corporate objectives within our target markets. These are the top and mid-upper professional motorsport sectors, through our portfolio of professional motorsport electronic product hardware, software and client services. This is to be achieved through a combination of winning brand new business and also by taking market share from our competitors within these sectors. This role will require regular international travel.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To work closely with teams, individuals, race series promotors and regulatory bodies within professional motor racing.
  • Engage MAT with new clients in market sectors where MAT currently has limited or no presence.
  • Work alongside the Key Account Manager in developing and growing existing markets through new product introduction.
  • In addition to promoting and selling existing MAT products and services, it is also essential to promote and sell new products into new sectors in order to demonstrate growth.
  • The approach, where practical should be to engage with the series or with key manufacturers.
  • Taking a lead in working with internal teams such as Commercial, Legal and Engineering to develop solutions for products and services that meet client’s requirements.
  • To formally present solutions back to our clients, to include leading on major bid and tender responses.
  • Work with clear objectives provided in the Tactical Sales Plan to provide a major contribution to achieving annual sales targets.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of sales performance
  • Provide input and contribution to the motorsport BU strategy and tactical plan
  • Develop and manage account plans for each motorsport series and client within your remit.
  • Maintain a good awareness of needs of the business
  • Provide input and support to developing annual and quarterly sales budgeting.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the business, interacting and engaging in a professional way with good levels of communication.
  • Ensure senior managers are kept briefed
  • Provide input and guidance for new product developments
  • Attend client events (particularly track events)
  • Attend relevant industry workshops and networking events
  • Identify and report back internally on external market drivers, trends and influences, (positive and negative)

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

  • Develop and maintain an extensive list of networking contacts within the professional motorsport industry
  • Have a strong understanding of motorsport electronics and hybrid electric architectures
  • Possess competitive bid writing skills
  • An understanding of assisting with internal business cases for internally and externally funded projects
  • Possess a qualification in either:
    • Degree in Automotive Mechanical or Electronic Engineering
    • MBA
    • Diploma in Automotive / Electronic Engineering
    • BTEC HNC / HND Electronic Engineering
