Merchandise Manager

Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Merchandising Manager to join our Merchandise, Licensing & Partnerships department.

Purpose of the role:

As Merchandise Manager, you will be responsible for continuing to develop the product roadmap, identifying focus areas and priorities, considering market and internal requirements, competitors, consumer trends and brand awareness drivers.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Merchandise area of the department and be a pivotal part in setting and implementing the strategy to maximise the value of the McLaren (Automotive) brand through merchandise opportunities. 

Principal accountabilities:

  • Look at areas for continued improvements in design, product quality, margin of the product range
  • Manage the whole product life cycle for all own product and packaging through supplier selection, procurement, design, sampling, sign-off and delivery to end consumer
  • Strong cost management and negotiation skills to ensure competitive pricing whilst protecting the required margin
  • Develop rigorous quality procedures to ensure product manufactured to the highest possible standards and tested accordingly
  • Work closely with other departments and external agencies to support the launch of new products including marketing, sales, ecommerce and display
  • Planning and forecasting of all product assortments for all distribution channels
  • Setting and ongoing management of annual Merchandise budget, including sales forecasting, reviewing resource requirements
  • Planning of sell-in incentives and sales out promotions & markdown proposals where necessary
  • Manage the operations and development of the merchandise team, currently consisting of a Merchandise Developer and Merchandise controller

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Significant product development experience in a variety of product areas
  • Experience developing and/or operating an ecommerce business
  • Knowledge of merchandising and logistics highly desirable
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and understanding of business drivers and strategies within a Merchandise department
  • Experienced in managing sales network such as an Automotive dealer network;
  • Ability to lead and guide a team to fulfil both the marketing and budgetary requirements of the department
  • Ability to compellingly engage with a wide variety of audiences – e.g. size, nationality, seniority and represent McLaren at its best
  • Automotive experience would be highly desirable
