Reporting directly to the Senior Manager the Material Control & Planning Manager will apply a best-practice approach to manage critical suppliers using multiple business change initiatives.

This is an opportunity to join one of the most dynamic departments within our business – Logistics.  

You must be able to lead and build/maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and suppliers across all business areas.

 

Principal accountabilities:

Implement Supplier Recovery / Improvement / Development advanced tools of which may include any combination of assessments, workshops, training, delivery improvements, capacity improvement, lead-time reductions and / or logistics cost savings.

Identify, analyse and prepare risk mitigation tactics with high risk suppliers to mitigate late supply and risk to our operation.

Interface with all senior level management of the organization, suppliers, regarding supplier performance and improvement actions and processes and be prepared to report out at senior level on plans and results.

Lead in cross functional teams driving improvements in OTIF, arrears to schedule & avoid impacting or stopping the production line, this will include managing supplier volatility, tier 2 or 3 suppliers at times.

Complete root cause analysis and recommend / implement corrective actions, develop solutions for driving closure of late supply.

Deliver accurate and regular reports and forecasts in order to provide maximum transparency for all stakeholders and to drive appropriate performance. Use rapid problem-solving and value stream mapping to close out all concerns.

Knowledge, skills & experience:

 

  • Extensive Supply Chain experience ideally gained with an automotive manufacturer
  • Proven leader of teams and change management
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority
  • Proven ability to manage all aspects of complex supply chains from end to end
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting data
  • Proven communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Highly IT literate (Microsoft applications, SAP etc)
