Marketing Manager - Woking

Purpose of the Role:

To deliver measurable value to the company by providing a strategic marketing capability which delivers programmes at a global level,  and facilitates go-to-market planning across all McLaren Applied’s business lines (Motorsport, Automotive, Public Transport, Health). The Marketing Manager provides insights for the development of business strategy; works with internal stakeholders to create the marketing strategy; and ensures the delivery of marketing programmes/plans, aligned to the company’s business objectives.

This role requires strategic thinking to create and implement the marketing plan for this growing area of McLaren Group operating at the leading edge of innovation and technology and a very hands-on approach to deliver results.

Role Dimensions:

The role is based in Woking, and reports into the McLaren Applied Chief Operating Officer, and works directly with the senior leadership team at McLaren Applied.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Provide insight and interpretation of the current and the potential future market and industry environment;
  2. Provide insight and interpretation of competitors and their strategies and activities;
  3. Facilitate the development and production of the business and strategic marketing plans;
  4. Develop and own the marketing strategy, including sector specific strategies, in support of company objectives;
  5. Design and implement the marketing programme / plan;
  6. Review and analyse the pipeline and general sales performance and revise marketing strategy and programmes accordingly;
  7. Be the “expert client” for the development and delivery of sector specific offerings;
  8. Manage as a virtual team all resources involved in delivering marketing activities, working in an agile manner to optimise performance;
  9. Develop and agree both the budget allocation and the specialist team engagement in the delivery of the marketing programme/ plan;
  10. Leverage the McLaren brand and work with the parent company’s marketing and communications team as appropriate;
  11. Identify, build and manage the necessary martech stack to deliver a digital first marketing engine.

Relationships:

The main governance for this role will come from the Chief Operating Officer. Primary stakeholders will include McLaren Applied Business Line Directors, Product Director and CEO.

The role will work with a virtual team comprising a McLaren Applied senior communications manager and variety other roles across McLaren Applied and within McLaren Group Marketing depending on the situation.

Measures & Deliverables:

  • Company delivers its business plan and budget;
  • Company able to leverage McLaren brand in its markets;
  • Company marketing strategy;
  • Company marketing programme / plan;
  • Reports on budget expenditure;
  • Reports on the implementation and impact of the sector programme / plan.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  1. Experience of designing, leading and delivering a marketing strategy in the B2B environment across multiple markets sectors, and within a specialist tech/ innovation/ engineering environment
  2. Proven record in delivering coherent marketing plans and campaigns deliver against clear KPIs  
  3. Senior personnel/stakeholder engagement – ability to collaboratively work with senior team personnel and stakeholders, across all business areas of McLaren Applied and within the McLaren Group
  4. A proactive approach to managing the candidate’s own workload, able to work well under pressure and accustomed to working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced department
  5. Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – ability to adjust tone of voice for different audiences (internal and external) to ensure McLaren is represented consistently
