Manufacturing Engineer Paint and Body Process Engineering

Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Paint and Body Process Engineering to join our Paint team.

 

Purpose of the role:

You will be responsible for continuously improving and developing the manufacturing processes that our production team members use to build our cars. You will be responsible for accepting new model build processes from our future manufacturing and current Engineering teams and developing them within Series production. This includes continuous process improvement, quality lead investigations and industrial engineering tools and techniques.

 

Principal accountabilities:

As one of our Manufacturing Systems & Process engineers you will provide first hand support to production for all Series vehicle manufacture, driving improvement in Method, Safety, Quality, Cost Management, People Development, and Product Delivery.

  • Opportunity to work with expert teams across the business as well as within your own functional groups to deliver process improvement projects across the production facility
  • Scoping, specifying, and delivering best operational practices in alignment with brand expectations; and support the Systems & Process team with the development of departmental budgets as contributor to overall program business cases.
  • Series Engineering change implementation
  • Series design reviews for new content
  • Time & Motion studying across production
  • Accurate Hours Per Car generation / reporting
  • Headcount monitoring and liaison with production management
  • PFMEA activities
  • Line Balancing
  • Quality focused build issue investigations
  • Process sequence, documentation, and Product Traceability methodology

 

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • A degree in mechanical / automotive engineering or similar (2:1 or above) is advantageous or equivalent experience in a similar role.
  •  Experience within continuous improvement initiatives within Method, Cost, Quality, Delivery & Safety
  • Hours per Car generation and monitoring
  • Vehicle assembly process instructions and visuals
  • Paint and Body processes
