McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is a division of McLaren Automotive, responsible for the design, development and delivery of personalised and bespoke vehicle commissions, performance details and options, as well as overseeing and ensuring McLaren legacy vehicles remain road worthy and up to date.  MSO products and services represent world class McLaren offerings and in doing so provides McLaren owners with virtually limitless possibilities to tailor a car exactly to their needs and tastes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in MSO for a driven individual to manage our programme management team at our MSO offices in Woking.

Purpose of the role:

As Programme Office Manager, you will lead the Programme & Project Delivery teams, as well as the MSO Business Improvement Team. The role of Programme Office Manager is to provide a consistent, robust, approach to how MSO deliver programmes and projects, across all areas of Defined and Bespoke content.

Principal accountabilities:

  • MSO pays special attention to growing its staff and thus, this Senior Management position is expected to mentor new programme/project leaders and coordinators to ensure a robust succession plan
  • Responsible for content, budget, timing and delivery of all MSO programmes and projects
  • Working with MSO Senior Leadership Team to continuously develop the strategy for delivering our cycle plan, and our financial targets
  • Responsible for all MSO projects from customer requests to accurate vehicle builds
  • Continuous improvement process at MSO; ensuring the ongoing development of processes & best practices
  • Ownership of the MSO Cycle Plan, and all the on-going projects High Level Plans
  • Working with other departments in McLaren Automotive Ltd, grow and develop the McLaren Project delivery tools and processes to aide deployment of these tools in MSO

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Engineering degree qualification or equivalent combination of education and work experience in Automotive Engineering
  • Combination of strong commercial and engineering acumen and demonstrable evidence of influencing decisions with key stakeholders 
  • Strong track record of delivering a project portfolio of mixed discipline engineering solutions through the development lifecycle
  • Proven ability to communicate status of progress, risks and opportunities appropriately to executive management
  • Knowledge and application of methods, tools and applications in a high-tech Engineering business
  • Excellent people management, interpersonal and communications skills, including proven experience of growing teams of technical people
  • Good abilities in cost management, schedule planning, measures of quality, process adoption and adherence and have experience of managing multi million pound budgets is essential
