Logistics Engineering Manager Future - Ultimate Series

As part of our Track25 business plan we will launch 18 new models or derivatives of our vehicles and look to expand our retailer network into new markets with an aim of having 100 retailers globally.  


Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Logistics Engineering Manager to deliver our Future Ultimate Series Programmes.


Purpose of the role:

You will be responsible for developing, designing and implementing logistics concepts and solutions to support the launch of all future Ultimate Series projects.  This role will require strong stakeholder engagement, influencing skills, clear communication skills, and the ability to positively challenge key project and IT stakeholders to ensure the best solution is identified to meet the programme requirements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the appropriate level of governance is applied to both small and complex projects and that these are completed within defined timescales, cost and quality criteria.

The ultimate aim is to provide the very best possible systems and solutions to support parts availability to production at the most optimal cost, delivered in the most efficient and effective manner in order to achieve customer satisfaction and commercial business objectives.


Principal accountabilities:

  • Logistics lead for Ultimate series projects, working under pressure to deliver to tight deadlines to ensure the Ultimate Series cars are launched to plan.
  • Interaction with key stakeholders within McLaren Automotive to ensure that Logistics strategy for Ultimate Series is integrated and supported.
  • Act as logistics focal for all Ultimate Series projects representing logistics at senior level. 
  • Capable of assuming a leading role within the cross functional team to develop a robust logistics solution design, project manage the implementation and engage all stakeholders.
  • Deliver against project gateways and act as point of escalation for any deviation from the original plan. 
  • Update project status reports and ensure the wider logistics teams have plans in place to deliver the business objectives.
  • Review financial data, identifying trends and developing clearly structured projections for Investment and Operating cost.
  • Review operational and systems performance on a frequent basis, identifying and proposing clear recommendations for improvements in operational efficiency and effectiveness.


Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Extensive logistics operations and project management experience ideally gained within an engineering or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority
  • Proven ability to manage all aspects of complex supply chains from end to end.
  • Ability to work as part of a cross functional team, supporting design, engineering, purchasing, quality and manufacturing to deliver project milestones.
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting data
  • Proven communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Highly IT literate (Microsoft applications, SAP, Business Object, SharePoint, etc)
  • Ability to interpret detailed design drawings.
