Marketing Graduate - Licensing Specialist

To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for an Licensing Specialist to join the team on a 12 month FTC.

Purpose of the role:

The Licensing Specialist is a supporting role within the Licensing, Merchandise and Partnerships division of McLaren Automotive.  Reporting directly into the MLP Manager, this is a supporting function, working in a fast-paced growing department with great potential and exposure to exciting projects.  This is a client facing role, so professional communication is vital when representing the brand. 

Principal accountabilities:

  • Support day to day needs of Licensees and Line Manager
  • Direct day-to-day communication with key licensees across gaming, toys/models and lifestyle
  • Main point of contact for external licensing agency
  • Manage the licensing approval process; working with key internal stakeholders to create concise and informative approval feedback, ensuring Licensees adhere to our brand quality standards and corporate identity
  • In-line with the above; ensure licensed products meet planned retail launch dates and flag any delays or issues to the Line Manager and relevant stakeholders within the business
  • Support Line Manager with new business negotiations, ensuring contracts and legal amendments are drafted, fully executed and recorded appropriately, meeting business targets
  • Support Line Manager with recording of quarterly royalty reports and invoice requirements; with the objective of meeting business targets
  • Work closely with the central brand and PR teams to ensure they have all required assets and product information to form a promotional and launch to market strategy
  • Update Licensing approval guidelines when necessary
  • Coordinate all supporting assets required to assist Licensees product developments, including colours/materials samples, photographs and CI assets
  • Support and coordinate Licensee photo shoots for development of Licensed products
  • Set up and attend licensee calls/ meetings and prepare necessary minutes
  • Attend trade shows and supporting brand events where required

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • 2-3 years’ experience working in a licensing role essential
  • Experience of working in an Automotive business is an advantage
  • Knowledge and good understanding of licensing contracts and the royalty reporting process
  • Experience dealing with key stakeholders (internal and external) at different levels required
  • Good understanding of the licensing approval process and product development
  • Confident and professional verbal and written communicator
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, excel, Outlook and Word
  • University degree preferred
  • Additional languages would be beneficial to in this global role
