Purpose

Responsible for the development and delivery of an integrated internal communications strategy (aligning internal / external messaging, content and channels) to support high levels of employee advocacy across a workforce of c1300 people.

A hands on approach is required and working within the HR team but also closely with the central communications team, you’ll lead and manage campaigns across a diverse agenda, with a focus on employee engagement, and develop, manage and monitor internal communications channels for effectiveness.

You are likely to be an established member of a busy internal comms team, looking to make that next step into a standalone role.

Key responsibilities

Essential:

  • Devise a creative yet business credible communication strategy and translate this into simple actionable and measurable plans for implementation across multiple channels
  • Gather feedback from diverse stakeholders and create engaging content that everyone can follow; and develop simple feedback mechanisms to measure effectiveness
  • Understand complex information and translate it into simple clear messaging
  • Write, edit, proof-read and deliver targeted messaging to a range of audiences
  • Source and / or identify stories and areas of interest from colleagues across the Group.  
  • Design creative interventions that work effectively with both desk based and non desk based colleagues.
  • Work across a wide range of disciplines and engage successfully with staff at all levels
  • Manage multiple projects to demanding deadlines
  •  Utilise communications enabling technology in particular digital and video in a pragmatic way
  • Ensure appropriate governance for all internal communications
  • Manage confidential and embargoed information with high levels of judgement and discretion.

Experience
Proven experience of:

  • Managing multiple projects in a busy communications environment.
  • Providing a communications service to both desk based and non-desk based employees
  • Successful use of social media and innovative technologies to support communications
  • Successful multi stakeholder management, including at senior levels
  • Operating within a matrixed organisation and experience within the technology sector would be desirable. 

Graduate and / or a professional qualification in Communications, PR or a related field.
