McLaren IT sits at the heart of McLaren’s operations. Located at the McLaren Technology Centre, our IT department is an essential part of our brand, ensuring that Applied Technologies, Racing and Automotive have the resources they need to function at the highest level.

The Role:

The successful applicant will be responsible in providing 2nd and 3rd level IT support for the McLaren Racing Team, located at both McLaren Technology Centre & trackside throughout the Formula 1 season.

You will support and ensure the stable operation of the hardware and software required for a race or test event, including server, storage, workstation & networking, reverting to the MTC support during the off season.

The Responsibilities:

You will be an experienced IT support engineer whom has strong experience across a breadth of IT areas, support trackside race events, working under an extremely pressurised environment where time to respond and resolve is absolutely critical in order to support the fast-paced nature of the race events.

You will support and ensure the stable operation of the hardware and software required for a race or test event, including server, storage, workstation & networking, reverting to the MTC support during the off season.

Travel around the globe will be required throughout the race season, in order to set up, test and support the race team IT equipment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in delivering and supporting complex virtual and physical server environments
  • Demonstrable experience of configuration and administration across a broad range of Microsoft and related infrastructure services including server, desktop, messaging, unified communication, identity and access management, content management, load balancing, clustering, software distribution, monitoring, Azure and Office 365
  • Strong technical knowledge of end user computing solutions and services
  • In depth experience of providing second line support across the range of Microsoft and related infrastructure services.
  • Demonstrate excellent trouble shooting skills, using the windows toolset, to investigate, diagnose, and rectify issues relating to Server Hardware/OS.
  • Understanding of virtualisation, load balancing, clustering, caching processes.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell or alternatives.

The Work Environment:

You will be based at the world-renowned McLaren Technology Centre. Our campus includes a subsidised restaurant, a café, a gym with a pool, break-out spaces, bicycle storage facilities and more. Our environment is designed to encourage collaborative working across all teams. You will be within one hundred metres of a specialist within their field, whether it’s in design, modelling and simulation, software development, data analytics, electronics hardware, finance and marketing.
