Hydraulic Technician

Location: Woking, GB

Purpose of the Role:

To participate in the build of Formula One cars, specifically with hydraulic systems, often working across multiple functions such as car sub assemblies, individual car components and associated support equipment both at and away from McLaren Technology Centre.

Principal Accountabilities:

The role holder will be responsible for;

  • Assembly of new hydraulic car parts and subassemblies
  • Servicing hydraulic car components and systems
  • Rig testing of car parts and assemblies
  • Providing support as required which may be at races, test, demos or other such events.

All of the above are required to be completed to a very high standard, often to tight deadlines and in a pressurised environment.

Due to the nature of the Build and Test Operations team, all team members will be required to undertake a variety of tasks and disciplines.  Training programmes will be created and implemented to ensure all team members get exposure to each area of Build and Test Operations and as such you will be required to show flexibility and willingness to learn on the job.

As the department will be supporting races, tests, demos etc, team members may be required to travel extensively and often at short notice.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of working in a highly technical engineering function.
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications and drawings.
  • Previous experience of working with hydraulic systems and components.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
