Head of Quality

Location: Woking, GB

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible to the Operations Director for leadership and ongoing development of the Quality strategy for MAT. Build the Quality team into a high-performance function for all of our product lines and customer markets.

This will be achieved by developing your team with the specific skills needed to transform both the operational efficiency of, and introduction of modern practices into the MAT business, to support the delivery of MAAT’s revenue and contribution targets and actively enhance MAT’s reputation of high quality innovation, design and delivery in its markets.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

Quality

  • Responsible for the Quality team, established to develop and evolve industry relevant best practice; quality, environmental, health and safety, and functional safety policies, processes and systems to drive continuous improvement and efficiency across the MAT business.
  • Establish a Verification and Validation function, working closely with the Director of Engineering and the Head of Production.
  • Ensure that a Quality culture is embedded into all aspects of the business by closely working with all functional teams and the Exec to make this possible.
  • Continue to build of the MAT Quality and Certification function, ensuring the transition to an embedded quality culture and that all business and project quality and safety objectives are met.
  • In conjunction with the COO, and specifically for our (product and ongoing service) customers and partners/suppliers, drive the adoption of the ‘McLaren Experience’ which sets out the experience of our key stakeholders, as a translation of MAT’s mission, vision, values, and business objectives into the reality of how it feels to work with MAT.

 

Business Process

  • Provide a governance function to ensure the application of consistent business processes across the business and the appropriate ensuing business information systems supported by the IT strategy.
  • Likewise, and in close collaboration with the Director of Engineering, undertake the same for Engineering processes.
  • Drive continual improvement by adoption of leading edge business processes, techniques, and quality / productivity methodologies.  Drive quality through visible quality and outcome management information.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Extensive experience of delivering in challenging and growing engineering and multidisciplinary project led environments.
  • Extensive experience of developing and delivering against operational plans with experience of a product and services business model.
  • Ability to develop and deliver, through a business function, a world class production environment.
  • Commercial and strategic thinker with vision, leadership, passion, and communication skills but with demonstrable decision-making skills.
  • Experience in a senior or executive leadership role.
