Purpose of the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to set up a new function whose focus will be on strategic supplier development of our supply chain partners.

Reporting to the Commercial Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual relationships with McLaren’s key strategic partners. This is a newly created role demonstrating McLaren’s commitment to enhance both its contractual and commercial operations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • To engage ahead of contract award to evaluate commercial risk and develop the negotiation strategies and procedures to optimise relations across a broad spectrum of strategic partners
  • To ensure that the relevant cross functional departments are aligned with the company’s commercial requirements
  • To work in conjunction with key internal stakeholders to identify critical and strategic suppliers
  • To develop and implement robust supplier engagement and management strategies, optimising McLaren’s financial positioning and long term profit projections
  • Develop opportunities to build key relationships with senior management, adopting a collaborative approach to long term supply strategies
  • To act as a lead, working in conjunction with the legal and purchasing departments, in the commercial  aspects of contractual negotiations
  • Represent the Company’s strategic interests in all decision making which could impact its relationships or long term commercial planning
  • To act as the lead negotiator in all commercial discussions with McLaren’s supply chain partners

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a clear track record in understanding and developing high value contractual relationships within a complex and dynamic environment:

  • Demonstrable success of contractual management, delivering both relationship stability and commercial advantage  
  • Skilled negotiator adept at managing complex negotiations at management level with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of developing  robust and scalable partnership strategies
  • Previous experience of managing complex partner portfolios
  •  Strong Leadership and team development
  • The ability to manage decisions based on data
  • Strong contractual knowledge is an absolute necessity
