Track 25 and McLaren Automotive’ s growing reputation is testament to our world class employees. To ensure McLaren Automotive continues to be at the forefront of the Automotive market, we are looking for a Graduate Vehicle Validation Coordinator to join our Project Coordination team.
Purpose of the role:
Supporting the Project teams to define and maintain the Programme Development plans, based on Design Verification Plan (DVP) content and in line with the Project High level plan and Gateways. As the Vehicle Validation Coordinator, you will be responsible to ensure, together with the Development Engineer and the Engineering Team representatives, that the plan represents the best result in term of resource optimisation and sign off robustness. Working across multiple projects to ensure consistency in approach, methods and tools and improvement and lesson learned implementation. Reporting is a key part of the position, with regard to providing regular updates on project status as well as visibility on maintenance/development of the McLaren car history database (Virtual Car). Tool and system development is also a fundamental aspect of the position, including managing the collaboration with any internal or external SW service provider.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Retain ownership and governance of the DVP, RAT and DFMEA process and tool set
  • Manage and maintain DVP vs Master Spreadsheet and work with Engineering teams to ensure full adherence with McL practices
  • Support DVP owners in generating, populating and maintaining DVPs in line with Gateway requirement. Ensure Change management is in place
  • Coordinate RAT and DFMEA population in line with Gateway requirement and project timing and in order to support DVP population 
  • Maintain, Develop and Improve VirtualCar functionalities & Manage the SW provider
  • Work with Virtual Car users to ensure data integrity  
  • Define and deliver DVP/Virtual Car Roadmap in line with business needs and resource
  • Define and maintain the Development plan, in collaboration with the Development Engineer and the Engineering teams, to ensure alignment with the HLP and availability of up-to-data data to the business 
  • Produce supporting documentation required for Project Meetings and GWs and assist with any scenario analysis required
  • Chair Development Plan reviews with the Engineering teams to ensure the plan is up-to-date and facilitate test results timely availability
  • Work with the Project Coordinators and the Project Managers to identify the KPI needs related to the VVC area of responsibility and deliver the required metrics
  • Run and distribute weekly and monthly KPI for DVP and VC and ensure data is up to date and correct
  • Seek and coordinate implementation of automation and improvement initiatives and ensure tutorial is in place for any macro or tool developed
  • Support/execute analysis on current and historical data related to project performances (development fleet and activities, etc)
  • Support the Development and Engineering teams in monitoring Test spec status and follow up
  • Provide DVP and VC training to new starters across all departments and assist users with daily issues
  • Produce and maintain DVP and VC training material

Knowledge, skills & experience:

  • Engineering or Automotive Engineering Degree
  • Software programming skills 
  • Timing plan Management skills; advanced level of MS Excel and MS  Project is essential
  • Data mining skills - ability to develop and translate objectives into numeric and measurable indicators 
  • Critical and evidence driven approach supported by knowledge of problem solving and cause-effects analysis methodologies 
  • Good ability to structure and deliver focused presentation.
  • Experience in a similar role in the Automotive industry (including  Automotive suppliers of complex systems)
  • Preferable experience of whole vehicle testing processes, including road and rig testing
