Our agile cross functional portfolio teams work collaboratively to solve interesting and challenging problems in industries we participate in.  

Typically, our teams comprise of Data Scientists and/or Simulation Engineers, Full Stack Software Engineers, Test Engineers, System Reliability Engineers (DevOps). And depending on the team, you may interact with the Systems Engineering community.

The Role  

As a Graduate Software Engineer who is passionate about technology, you will use the most effective and applicable technologies to create robust and scalable software that runs in the cloud.  

You will learn by working on a variety of challenges towards product or solution deliverables, often highly complex and based around mission critical systems that combines capabilities like real time anomaly detection, predictive maintenance and optimisation with supporting visualisation and reporting.  

You will play a vital role in building and applying our data management and analysis platform to for different problem spaces.

Our platform uses the latest streaming and cloud technology to turn high-rate telemetry data into valuable insights for our customers.  

From creating architecture diagrams, developing secure performant services, to writing the infrastructure code to host microservices, as a graduate software engineer at McLaren, you will be contributing to each stage of the software lifecycle of your team’s solutions.  

Basic Skills and Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C#, Kotlin, C++, Python
  • General awareness of cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, GCP or OpenStack.
  • Enthusiasm and motivated to learn new skills (other coding languages, domains) as opportunities arise.
  • Understanding of agile or lean development practices.  
  • Ability to write and speak in English fluently.
  • An Internship or work placement experience is a plus.

The Work Environment

You will be based at the McLaren office in centre of Woking (5 minutes’ walk from the train station). Some travel to the McLaren Technology Centre may be required.
