The Role:

The role of Functional Safety Manager is required to support the application of McLaren Applied Technologies Functional Safety policy in our automotive projects and products.  We are seeking an individual to support the strategic development of this policy and associated business processes and to ensure projects & products meet the requirements of ISO26262 and other standards required for business continuity.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the strategic development of the Functional Safety Policy and associated business processes, interfacing with interface with certification and product safety where relevant;
  • Responsible for understanding and implementing all relevant functional safety standards, including keeping up to date with the latest best practice, understanding changes to relevant safety legislation and standards in all markets, working with the head of Functional Safety to implementing efficient process to ensure Applied Technologies meets the safety and business requirements;
  • Supporting and leading Functional Safety Audits, both internally and externally, supporting our customers to ensure we are considering safety through the whole value chain;
  • Championing the safety culture and continuous improvement in McLaren Applied Technologies through building relationships with stakeholders at all levels across the business, identifying education and training needs and appropriate solutions;
  • Maintain the KPIs and metrics for functional and project safety and service life, to produce insightful management information and action plans to drive continuous improvement;

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience and responsibility for functional safety, or experienced engineer in safety relevant  formal safety management environment, IEC 61508, ISO26262, IEC62304;
  • Previous extensive working experience as Functional Safety Manager on ISO 26262.
  • Must have experience of working with Safety policies and processes covering functional safety, additional product safety experience would be beneficial;
  • Experience of Leading or taking part in External/Internal Safety Audits;
  • Recognised safety project experience, additional safety management qualifications or experience would be an advantage;
  • Engineering degree or equivalent calibre with industrial experience;
  • Demonstrable written and verbal communicator, with experience of persuading and influencing senior engineers;
  • Experience of building effective close working relationships both internal and externally to influence safety culture and challenge ways of working;
  • Have a strong analytical approach, used to justified, actions;
